Sarpanch Smt. Vilma D’Silva launched the “Swachhata hi Seva” programme on 15th Sept 2017 with other members of the Panchayat at Village Panchayat Office. The pledge “Swachhata hi Sewa” Pledge given under the programme was taken by those present. The Sarpanch urged the members to actively volunteer for clean and a garbage free Navelim.
As a part of the programme the cleaning of Market & shops in the jurisdiction of this Panchayat was undertaken with active participation of Ward Members and Garbage Committee members.
A meeting was conducted with Garbage Committee members and Village Development Committee where-in the matters with cleanliness in the village were taken up and discussed.
Cleaning in the respective wards along with its citizens was undertaken by the Ward Members.
Drawing competition was conducted in schools in the jurisdiction of Navelim, and the best drawings with 1st and 2nd Position were awarded in cash by this Panchayat.
The Sarpanch along with Dy. Sarpanch, Ward Members and Staff had undertaken the work of cleaning the premises of this Panchayat as specified under the “Swachhata hi Sewa” programme where-in the Panchayat premises, counters, chairs, tables and fans were dusted. Also the toilets were cleaned.
A special Gram Sabha meeting was held on 2nd Oct 2017 on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti; the Sarpanch concluded the “Swachhata hi Sewa” programme and thanked all the individuals who participated actively and expressed the importance of cleanliness. She recollected the activities undertaken from 15th Sept 2017 to 02nd Oct 2017 and congratulated the ward members for their incessant support. She urged all to keep up the good work endlessly and not only when such programme is scheduled. Also the prizes were awarded for the participants of drawing competition.
